It’s All In The Details

24 Oct
My favourite bloom is now the extraordinary Hydrangea. I have discovered them in the woods nearby in several colours ranging from bright blue to burgundy to the paler shade above. Having their own unique palettes, there are usually other hues and shades on the petals as if they were hand-painted.

A crow stopped me in my path and pointed out this bench to me. The plaque reads, ‘Enjoy the view…Listen from within. Live in truth, love, and Peace.’ The moment reminded me of an Edgar Allen Poe story.

Twilight time can be quite magical with a different sky every evening and varies significantly with the seasons. If you really look at the clouds you can possibly see all kinds of creatures floating along.

The sea frequently changes its colour and texture and sometimes appears to be as a field covered in snow with the ships stranded on top of it. The water levels can also look deceptively high as though right up to the buildings across from the beach.

Recently, while walking on the sea wall in the rain I came across a rare sight. At first, I thought it was a statue but lo and behold it was a live seal just lolling about. They are often visible at other further points along the wall but this was a first for me in this area. The large rock in the photo resembles a seal’s head. At least it does to me.

Ever-changing clouds that appear to be brush-stroked across a blue sky.

One of my recent bird friends on a brief albeit noisy visit to the balcony. They let me know when they arrive and when they leave. I adore them just the same and envy their ability to soar above it all with their bird’s eye view. My dear little dinosaurs.

Nature opposes itself in illuminating ways. The blue sky with sunshine out to the west is in direct contrast to the thick, grey, and white clouds above appearing as a tunnel to light.

“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” –John Muir

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing which stands in the way. Some see nature as all ridicule and deformity, and by these, I shall not regulate my propositions. And some see no nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.” -William Blake
